Driver License
An Alabama driver's license may be renewed at
any Mobile County License Commissioner office. Fee is $23.00. If you
lose your driver's license, a duplicate can be issued with the proper
identification for a fee of $18.00. At least two of the below listed items
are required to be issued a duplicate driver's license:
- Social Security Card
- Certified birth certificate (required
for all 14-15 year old and first applicants)
- Active, retired, reserve, or dependent
military ID card
- Other state driver license or previously
held Alabama driver license that has not expired
- Passport (must have I-94 for foreign
students)
- Certificate of U. S. Citizenship (form
N-560)
- Certificate of Naturalization (form
N-570)
- Alien registration receipt card
(Resident Alien, form I-551)
- Certificate of birth issued by the
Department of State (form FS-545)
- U. S. citizens born abroad (form
DS-1350)
- Marriage license (must have full name
and date of birth)
- Certified school record on local school
letterhead, signed by custodial of records (must have applicants
full name and date of birth).
- Divorce papers (must have full name and
date of birth, other ID will be required)
- Adoption papers (must have full name and
date of birth, other ID will be required)
- Original DD-214 military discharge
papers (must have other ID)
- Court ordered name change (with full
name, date of birth, other ID required)
- Student identification (must have
photograph)
- Employee identification (must have
photograph)
- Police report
- Expired Polaroid driver license
- Medicaid Card or Medicare Card with
Social Security Card
- Pistol permit with picture
- Voter registration card
- Selective service card
- Temporary Alabama driver license with
picture
For out-of-state
new residents and first-time issuance of an Alabama driver license,
you must apply at the following Alabama Department of Public
Safety Office:

The License Commissioner’s office is able to issue a duplicate Alabama non-driver ID card. All duplicates are $18.00 each. For first-time issuance of an Alabama non-driver ID card, a customer must apply at the Alabama Department of Public Safety office.
